EXPERIENCE IN VETERINARY MEDICINE

EXPERIENCE

2021- Present

Practice Manager

Mountain View Veterinary Clinic, AVPM 3 LLC

I joined Mountain View Veterinary Clinic as Practice Manager in June of 2021. Shortly after, we partnered with Amerivet. The transitions was a big change for the clinic. During my time at MVVC I have been able to increase their EBITDAC from -2% to +30%! By hiring all new staff and adding a new doctor, put in all new computers, networking, phones, lab equipment, adding an ultrasound, CO2 Surgical Laser, Oxygen Condenser, software program (migrating completely from charts to EMR), digital controlled drug program, digital marketing program, digital scheduling program, digital phone system, digital time clock, creating another exam room to see more patients, creating CVT appointments to increase client retention, education, and revenue, and reducing hospital inventory to 24k through the Power of 20 implementation. It has been quite a journey but I am proud to say that MVVC is stronger, healthier, and profitable. I am excited to see what the future holds for MVVC and it's amazing staff and incredible doctor!

2007-2021

Owner & Director

Southern Oregon Equine Central Point, Oregon

As founder, owner, and director of Southern Oregon Equine I had the distinct opportunity to build an equine practice from it's conception. I was responsible for every aspect and built a very successful, profitable, patient-oriented practice. My responsibilities entailed everything from technical skills to inventory, profit and loss statements, marketing, bookkeeping, scheduling, growth and development, and everything in between. I am so grateful for this opportunity. This 13+ years was a great way to diversify my experience in veterinary medicine.

2000-2007

Independent Contractor

Practice Development, Medford,Oregon

During this time, I worked with many different small animal, large animal, mixed, and equine practices to help them recover, redesign, prepare for partnerships and sales, and increase profitability.  I really enjoyed helping teams and doctor partnerships evaluate their practices and design formulas for success. Building team leaders and directly impacting patient care was such an exciting aspect of my job. Helping hospitals flourish has been such  a rewarding part of my journey in veterinary medicine and has given me the opportunity to develop useful and influential skills.

1996-2000

Director of Operations

Vetco Hospitals Inc, Huntington Beach,CA

As Director of Operations for Vetco, I oversaw the vaccination clinics and hospitals nationwide. I was responsible for the locations, veterinarians, teams, equipment, inventory, production, financial outlook, and the development of leaders to fill all the opening positions.  Our rapid growth and acquisitions required me to be driven, focused, and able to achieve excellence each and every day.  The people I mentored grew to be amazing contributors to veterinary medicine. I feel blessed to have served in this capacity and feel I made a strong contribution to the growth and development of our industry.

1992-1996

Director of Operations

Healthy Pets, Whittier, CA

My position as Director of Operations gave me the opportunity to manage and grow vaccination clinics across the state of California.  Developing leaders, building a large group of strong and enthusiastic veterinarians, and deriving a team of technicians was a highlight of this job. The responsibility of revenue, profit and loss, retention, and growth was such an awesome opportunity for me to learn and truly understand how to make veterinary medicine effective, meaningful, and profitable.

EDUCATION

EDUCATION

Pre-Veterinary Medicine

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

While at Cal Poly I studied pre-veterinary medicine. My internship in the sheep unit taught me a great deal about breeding and ovine management. I also worked for my professor in a private veterinary clinic. My election as California State Secretary provided additional state university credits, scholarships, training, and opportunities in leadership on the Cal Poly campus.

Mt. San Antonio College

Undergraduate Classes

I was a sophomore in high school when I began my freshman year of college. I attended high school during the day, worked at a veterinary clinic in the afternoons, and attended college on campus at night until I graduated from high school. I entered Cal Poly San Luis Obispo after high school as a junior in college.

High School Diploma

Covina High School

I attended Covina High School and participated in the FFA Program where I became Chapter President. I also raised beef, sheep, and swine, as well as learned landscaping and floral design. I was president in Parliamentary Procedures and participated in prepared and extemporaneous public speaking.

EXPERTISE IN OPERATIONS

EXPERTISE

Profitability

I enjoy evaluating a practice and finding it's strengths and weaknesses. I develop a practice by targeting staff training, patient scheduling, inventory, pricing, Per Client Transactions, and marketing. This formula has been very successful and helped hospitals become more profitable and effective. This year I have been able to take Mountain View from a -2% EBITDAC to +30% in June 2023

Efficiencies

Technology and work flows play a big role in how a hospital functions. If a hospital has good equipment, good computers & phones, and solid work flows, it can serve many patients. When staff is held up by having to work around inefficiencies, time is wasted and productivity is cut in half. I enjoy finding weak points and implementing better equipment, technology, and work flows, and training staff to work with them. The success is extremely rewarding to see.

Aquisitions

Acquisitions and new developments are a special part of what I do. I love taking on new locations and bringing them up to speed or developing them from the dirt up. I enjoy the designing and construction aspect as well and the project management and team building. I love mentoring staff and veterinarians and teaching them how to look at what we do and identify what we must make happen in order to be profitable and provide quality care!!
